Interns provide critical operational support and can be tapped to fill entry-level roles, but finding interns that meet an organization’s needs can be a challenge.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, almost 50% of internships were cancelled in the summer of 2020, and the waterfall effect of intern shortages has only worsened, leaving students less prepared for future roles and employers searching for both talent and help.
The water power industry, which is a critical component of the clean energy future, is facing workforce development challenges, but by hiring interns and nurturing their growth, the water power industry can invest in tomorrow’s workforce … today.
The National Hydropower Association (NHA) created the NHA Career Center, which is open to employers, job seekers, and intern seekers, as a way of providing a platform for those looking for career opportunities and for those looking for workers. Currently, the Career Center features 30 job listings from 25 employers; it’s an excellent resource for organizations looking to elevate employment opportunities.
One of the Career Center’s many benefits is the ability to create a 30-day internship posting for free. By utilizing this tool, organizations can broadcast internship opportunities and begin identifying talent to support internal operations while growing the future waterpower workforce.
HOW TO POST AN INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
Posting an internship on NHA’s Career Center is straightforward, and the following steps will allow your organization to quickly start your important search.
1. Visit the employer webpage: https://careers.hydro.org/employers/
2. Scroll down to the “Job Posting Pricing Options” section:
3. If you’re a member of NHA, make sure the “Member” button is toggled. If you’re not a member, then select the “Non-Member” option:
4. Scroll down to the “30-Day Internship Posting” section, and click the “Post Now” button:
