WILL PISANO JOINS NHA TO ADVANCE CLEAN, RENEWABLE HYDROPOWER
Washington, D.C. (February 10, 2022) – The National Hydropower Association (NHA), the leading voice for the nation’s hydropower and marine energy industry, announced today that Will Pisano has joined as Director of Government Affairs. In this position, Pisano will spearhead NHA’s federal and state legislative policy program, as well as advocate on behalf of the industry to ensure that hydropower is recognized as an essential part of America’s clean energy future.
Prior to coming to NHA, Pisano served as Senior Legislative Assistant for Congresswoman Annie Kuster, and was responsible for her legislative efforts on the Energy Subcommittee of the House Energy and Commerce Committee, including her work on the bipartisan Twenty-First Century Dam Act. During his time with Rep. Kuster, he helped her achieve key policy priorities in renewable energy, rail, housing, and sexual violence prevention. He was also the staff lead for the Ghost Army Congressional Gold Medal Act, which was signed into law by President Biden in February. Will is a graduate of Connecticut College and is pursuing his Juris Doctorate at the Georgetown University Law Center.

The hydropower industry provides 38 percent of the nation’s renewable generation and approximately 7 percent of overall electricity generation, providing enough electricity to power 30 million homes and businesses. In addition, pumped storage facilities provide 94 percent of energy storage in the United States, making hydropower a critical resource to integrate increasing amounts of variable energy sources into America’s electricity system.
