Albany Engineering Corporation is a private engineering company, incorporated in 1924, with is main office located in Albany, New York. AEC provides development, regulatory, design, construction, operation, and maintenance services for its own hydroelectric projects as well as those of a select group of municipal clients. AEC focuses its hydroelectric activities in upstate New York and its portfolio of projects includes both new construction and refurbishment/modernization of existing hydroelectric facilities. AEC-owned facilities include the Mechanicville Hydroelectric Station, built on the Hudson River in 1897 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which is considered to be the oldest hydroelectric facility in the world still operating with original equipment. AEC also has several hydroelectric facilities, both owned and for clients, in various phases of development and construction.
