Calling any professionals in the Northeast working with hydropower, pumped storage, or marine energy! The National Hydropower Association (NHA) invites you to attend the Northeast Regional Meeting, taking place July 25 and 26 in Springfield, Massachusetts.
The Northeast Regional Meeting is owned and organized by NHA, hosted by FirstLight Power, and sponsored by 26 companies and organizations. The Meeting offers insight to those looking to stay up to date on the issues and opportunities affecting hydropower in the Northeast. “NHA’s regional meeting series are important because we understand that not everyone can attend our national events. To reach more people, as well as provide opportunities for individuals … we strive to provide annual forums across the U.S. to address regional issues and location-specific challenges,” says Marla Barnes, NHA vice president of member and industry engagements.

(The number of participants on this tour is limited; at this time, the tour is full and there is a waiting list.) With an impressive generating capacity of 1,108 MW, Northfield Mountain is the largest pumped-storage station in New England. Learn about its intricate workings, cutting-edge design, and the incredible benefits it brings to New England’s energy landscape.

3. Expert Insights: Engage in thought-provoking discussions, working groups, and panels led by industry experts, who will share their knowledge, insights, and experiences. Sessions like “Basin Scale Planning: Uncommon Dialogue Working Group 3/5” and “Shake Up! Wake Up! Time to Adjust Our Collective Mindset” provide attendees with the opportunity to hear and connect with the top-minds shaping waterpower.
4. A Focus on Regional-Specific Topics: The hydropower landscape in the Northeast is evolving, and NHA knows that it’s critical for attendees to be aware of issues shaping hydropower on a national level. Sessions like “Innovative Approaches and Emerging Tools in FERC Licensing,” and “Hot Topics – What Environmental Justice Means for FERC Relicensing” will feature speakers from FERC, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and more; join them as they provide updates, share innovations, and detail developments.
