Cancellation Policy
You may transfer your registration at any time at no cost. Cancellations received in writing by November 22 will be refunded less a $50 administrative fee. Cancellations after this date cannot be refunded.
Meeting Location & Accommodations
The 2023 California Regional Meeting will take place at the Guild Hotel. NHA’s negotiated room rate is $269 plus tax and is valid until November 3rd or the room block is full, whichever comes first. You can make your reservation through the button below or call 619-795-6000.

Tour Information
Wednesday, December 13

Please meet in the hotel lobby at 7:45 AM, the bus will leave at 8:00 AM.
This tour consists of two parts:
1 – A briefing at the Institution’s Center for Western Weather and Water Extremes (CW3E) where participants will hear about a pilot project called Forecast Informed Reservoir Operations (FIRO), in which researchers are developing enhanced forecast tools to better manage reservoirs.
2 -A tour of the Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier, a research facility that houses numerous environmental monitoring stations and enables small boat and scientific diving The tour will highlight the pier’s history as well as ongoing observations of waves, tides, and meteorological stations and radar units for measuring surface currents. Representatives from CW3E will discuss how pier observations are informing research about extreme weather impacts on floods, droughts, hydropower, ecosystems, and the economy.
The max capacity for this tour is 50 attendees.

Bike Ride Information
Come join your colleagues for a bike ride the day before the Regional Meeting. There will be two distance options, with both routes starting out together.
We will meet at The Guild Hotel (500 West Broadway) on Wednesday at 9:15 AM and be ready to roll at 9:30 AM. From the hotel, we’ll ride ½ mile to the Coronado Ferry Terminal and take the 10:00 ferry across the bay. The ferry costs $8/person and runs every hour on the hour. Ferry tickets can be purchased here and are good any day, any time, any route, no matter what date they are purchased.
From there, we’ll take the bike path heading south along the west side of the bay and then north along the east side of the bay back to where we got on the ferry. This portion of the route has hardly any hills and should be accessible for just about all riders. Those who are satisfied with this 20 mile ride will head back to the hotel. For those who want to ride another ~20 miles, we will continue north through town to the bike path that runs next to the San Diego River. Heading west on the bike path, we will make a stop at Azucar for a pastry and coffee which we will enjoy a few blocks away while sitting on the sea wall overlooking the ocean. Refueled, we will continue south along the ocean up to Point Loma and the Cabrillo National Monument for a panoramic view of the ocean and the city (and a group photo, of course). Most of the trip from there back to the hotel will be along North Harbor Drive and the bike path that runs next to it.

Advance reservations are recommended. Once you fill out the on-line reservation form, Peter will call you to get your credit card information and determine what kind of pedals you want. Even if you are not staying at The Guild Hotel, have your bike delivered there, and refer to NHA in the comments of your reservation. We will work with the hotel to put all the bikes in one place when we are finished, and Peter will pick them up around 4:00 PM.
